OWS: “Day of Action”

Two months ago a contingent of disgruntled citizens established themselves in a small park in New York’s  Financial District to “Occupy” Wall Street. Their inchoate movement has turned a leaf since that fateful day in September and garnered support from cities around the world; offshoot “occupy” movements have sprouted up in myriad American cities, from Dallas to Portland to Denver.

Marking the two-month anniversary of the occupation, protesters called for a “day of action” where demonstrators marched to Union Square in solidarity. The main focus of the march was education reform. From student debt to teachers collective bargaining rights, protesters clamored and chanted for change. But as with all OWS gatherings, the demonstration quickly became a platform for all the gripes of its participants.
