Winter is Coming to Brooklyn

The thermometers drop, the days are shorter: winter is near. It is time to turn on the heaters, show off new coats and indulge in pumpkin lattes.

But these winter luxuries have not always been around. So what did people do a hundred years ago to prepare for the lower thirties?

The Lefferts Historic House hosted their annual “Winter in a Flatbush Farm” on the last weekend of November. Children from around the city gathered around and learned how our ancestors managed to survive until spring.
